congrats, you’re engaged!
Congrats!! You are engaged and ready to start planning the wedding of your dreams. One of the biggest decisions you will need to make is where to tie the knot. Of course, you could always go with a traditional church or local wedding venue. OR, you could consider another exciting option- a destination wedding! This fun alternative can add romance, adventure, and more personality to your big day. Here are four reasons why you should say YES to a destination wedding!
Money Talks
Believe it or not, destination weddings can be great for your wedding budget! The average cost of a wedding in the U.S. in 2019 was over $35,000. Depending on location and the type of ceremony/accommodations you want, most couples end up spending significantly less on a destination wedding than they would have on a traditional wedding. Choosing a location with lots of natural beauty eliminates the need for all the expensive decorations and flowers!
Less Stress
A traditional wedding involves months of planning and detailed preparation that all must come together at once over just a few hours time. Unfortunately, a lot of the leg work and coordinating duties tend to fall on the couple and their immediate families. The special day usually ends up being super stressful for the very people who should be enjoying it the most. This is why I suggest you ditch the drama and opt for a relaxing wedding getaway instead!
Simplify the Guest List
Choosing a destination wedding is a great way to narrow down the guest list for your big day! You can say your vows in front of the people who matter most to you and who are willing to put forth the effort to join you on your trip for your special day. It also eliminates the pressure to invite a lot of random people out of politeness or fear of hurting feelings. No one expects you to invite your grandma’s hairdresser’s nephew to Mexico with you :)
Time for Memories
For all the time and effort that go into planning traditional weddings, they are over in a matter of hours. The wedding couple and their families are typically so busy making sure everything goes smoothly and visiting with guests that they hardly get a chance to enjoy the day. Choosing a destination wedding gives you the chance to slow down, spend time with your family and friends, and make memories that you will cherish forever!
